Patrick Stewart in Doctor Who Two Parter

Yes, you read that right. Patrick Stewart will be in a Doctor Who two parter featuring the daleks. Now this is cool enough news in and of itself. I mean the man who brought Guney Halek to life in the less awful version of Dune, the man who is Professor X, and do I even need to mention his stint as captain of the Enterprise? How much cooler can you get than that? Well, as it’s been reported in The Sun, Stewart will be playing a rival Timelord known only as the Meddling Monk. Yes, the Meddling Monk. The Monk was a character introduced during the Hartnell era and was the first Timelord we see other than the Doctor and Susan. The Monk though was using time travel for his own benefit and was stranded when the Doctor took an essential device from the Monk’s TARDIS making the inside shrink down to Barbie doll size. However the Monk eventually repaired his TARDIS and tried to avenge himself on the Doctor in ancient Egypt with the help of the daleks. He hasn’t been seen since. Now sadly the article is not really clear on if this is actually for the 2010 series or if it is for next year’s specials. I’m hoping for the specials because I caannot wait to see this!

And for your enjoyment:

No comments, eh? Guess people are a little hesitant to trust the Sun, and rightly so. It’s worth considering, however, that THE TIME MEDDLER finally got a DVD release not long ago, and that seems in keeping with 2 Entertain’s recent practice of releasing classic WHOs with monsters/villains that are set to appear in the new series. It’s happened with the Master, the Daleks, Davros, the Cybermen, and the Sontarans, and one has to wonder why TIME MEDDLER (though a fabulous story) would get priority over other, more coveted classic tales. Of course, by that rational, the recent release of TRIAL OF A TIMELORD would seem to bode well for the possible return of a certain long lost planet, or perhaps even the Valeyard…
