Doctor Who on iTunes…

Yes, rejoice Mac lovers (and PC users as well… but why?)! Doctor Who has come to iTunes! Specifically it is the revived series and not the classic era episodes, but that’s all good. You can find the show on the BBC America channel under the TV Shows. Each episode is only a $1.99 or you can order the full run for $25.87 which is almost sixty-five to seventy-five dollars off (depending where you buy…) the DVD box sets. Of course you don’t get any of the DVD extras either. But I know for my part the pricing is much more attractive than paying $80.00 for fourteen episodes (unlike Firefly which retails around $39.99). Currently only the first three series are available. The fourth should become available after the series runs on BBC America, though it has to finish up its SciFi Channel run first.

They have four episodes of the original series as well with Patrick Troughton and John Pertwee. One of them is the introduction of Sarah Jane, The Time Warrior.

That’s pretty sweet. Obviously this is a new addition since the article’s been written. Still I love all the DVD extras they have with the classic series so I’ll still be buying the DVDs then using Mac the Ripper to convert them to iPod format so I can watch them on the go.

…and they added even more from the Pertwee years today. I thought about getting the DVDs, but they are not the easiest to hunt down, plus as much as I travel, it is easier. From what I understand some of the episode showing up on iTunes aren’t even on DVD yet.
I figure buying them will encourage them to put even more up.

Problem is, Last of the Time Lords was editted. It removed the “I can’t decide” sequence for some strange reason. Something that is making me decide to not purchase anymore from itunes.

I don’t know if this forum is still active at all, but if anyone happens to come by, I have an idea of why “I Can’t Decide” was removed. It’s BBC America that’s broadcasting Doctor Who over iTunes and I’d wager they hadn’t gotten the rights to play the song in the states, only in the UK. It’s also possible - I can’t remember if in the original version they come up to this point in the song or not - the song does contain the words “F**k and kiss you both at the same time.” That could have done it too.

Jake, the “I Can’t Decide” segment was removed for rights issues and not the content of the song (the excerpt played in the episode did not include the expletives).
