The Doctor’s Phone Number…
This story was brought to us by one of our readers, Ste. The Telegraph is reporting that a record number of people actually tried to call the phone number that was flashed up on the screen during the episode The Stolen Earth. Of course the number was bogus, it’s a fake series of numbers reserved for television, much like how Hollywood uses “555″ (ex: 555-1138). This is highly reminiscent to an incident several years ago when the Jim Carrey film, Bruce Almighty came out. Bruce is given a pager by God and the number on the pager was a real phone number. Needless to say, thousands of people tried the number to talk to God. It caused such a ruckus that when released on DVD the number was digitally altered to a “555″ number.
Though it would have been funny if it went to a recording of David Tennant saying, “I’m not dead yet! I don’t want to go on the cart!”
