What’s To Come…

Doctor Who Spoilers

Yes, in this post there will be spoilers, rumors and who knows what all. So if you have not yet seen The Stolen earth I do not recommend you read any further. And so you don’t accidentally read something you don’t want to, the post will continue after the jump.

Ok, so for those of us who have seen The Stolen earth, was anyone else shocked by the Doctor getting blasted by that dalek? Myself I was watching the episode on my iPod while eating lunch at this fast food joint. When the Doctor was shot I shouted out something that had to do with religious excrement. Talk about embarrassing. Nine may have been my first Doctor, but Ten is my Doctor. I was hoping agains hope that he wouldn’t have to regenerate, but there we were at the end of the episode and he started to regenerate.

Now the Doctor’s regenerations seem to be unique in that only he ever seems to have difficulties with them. He’ll go temporaily mad and hang people upside down in a broom closet, he may lose his memory and claim he’s half human on his mother’s side, he may have to stay inside of a coffin for a while, or he may expel the Time Vortex. Conversely, Romana regenerated at will and the Master seemed rather sprightly and full of energy after regenerating in lst year’s Last of the Timelords. Now it seemed like they tried to make it a point to remind you that he still has his old hand there. Remember it caused a paradox that created Jenny and Dalek Khan reffered to the Doctor as “the Tri-fold Man.” Could it be that the Doctor may split? Will there be two or three versions of the Doctor existing all at once? This is not unheard of of course. Just before Four regenerated he had contact with his future incarnation and was prepared for what he had to do. His future self even kept his companions from harm while Logopolis was wiped away from the universe. Now of course most of us know that David Tennant has filmed the upcoming Christmas special. So if there is a split will he and his other self be traveling together?

This brings me to a story sent to me by Gregory L. Stuff On TV has behind the scenes pictures of the upcoming Christmas special. In it we see David Tennant as the Doctor in his trademark blue pinstriped brown suit and overcoat. Joining him is David Morrissey who may and I mean may be the Eleventh Doctor. Many may remember Morrissey from Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting. Boyle also directed Shallow Grave with Ninth Doctor, Chris Eccleston. And they BOTH had Obi-Wan Kenobi in them. Coincidence? Coincidence? Yeah, probably. But I wonder… Oh well.

This brings me to another story that was sent in by Patricia A. The Daily Express is reporting that the Beeb’s bigwigs want Tennant to continue on as Who so much so that they are willing to pay him £100,000 per episode which in US dollars would be about $198,000 or so. Give or take. This is the same BBC that will not make a Red Dawrf movie because they are afraid it will be a big financial success. I guees that’s one of the nice things about forcing people to have to pay for television instead of relying on adverts for your income. Anyway, take from this what you will. If anyone has anymore info, let us know. Now what do you guys think?

    I can’t wait for saturday :)

Eccleston was my first doctor as well, but david tennant quickly became my favorite of those two.
How brilliant is this show..over two seasons it changed out every main character, rose and eccleston, yet it didn’t really matter at all.

Kudos for an awesome site, and heres hoping for many many years of WHO :)

i ready hope david stays. Nine was my first doctor as well, but i agree that ten is my ACTUAL doctor. I’ll never really accept anyone else in my mind.

I think that since they are off sinc(sp*) with the rest of the universe, maybe that will cause the regeneration to turn him back to himself. Or something odd like that.

    Oh can;t wait for 13…

I’m a new fan of Dr Who, having only watched todays finale ep, and the two previous ones. The episode is great, and don’t worry Tennant fans, you get to keep the doctor you love.

@Mentoc: Hugh Grant is my Doctor, haha

not really. DT better stick around or I swear… hell to pay. Also, Series 3 of Torchwood with Martha and Mickey? That could be good. I wonder who the next companion will be… darn Beeb for taking a year off!

Yeah, Beeb. Darn you to Heck.

  • 12 Crayling // Jul 6, 2008 at 5:04 pm

I might have missed something here, but who is “Beeb”? :P

    @ Crayling

The Beeb is the nickname for the BBC.

    @ Jeff and Olly

Can’t blame the BBC for lack of Who next year. That’s David Tennant’s fault. He’s playing Hamlet in the fall and rehearsals are at the same time the show would be filming. Though on the upside, we may get to see Patrick Stewart in Series Five…
