The Doctor’s Daughter Discussion…
What do you get if you combine the Fifth Doctor with Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’s Trillian? You get a honey of an “O” that is Georgia Moffett, daughter of Peter Davison and Sandra Dickison. If anyone could make green army fatigues look good it’s her, seriously. That and she makes me feel guilty like I was caught checking out a coworker’s hot daughter. Anyway, enough of my dirty old man thoughts. What about yesterday’s episode? I enjoyed it though after just coming off a two-parter that featured a lot of soldiers we get another story with more soldiers. I’m a bit soldiered out. I really liked the aliens in this episode as well, the Hath, half-human, half-fish people. They have water masks so they can breathe (like reverse scuba) and speak in bubbles. Now we don’t really get to understand what the Hath say, but they do have scripted lines kind of like Kenny in South Park. If you listen closely you can make out what they are saying. David Tennant also gets a chance to shine in this episode. I mean suddenly faced with fatherhood (again), the Doctor at times is downright speechless. Which Donna has no qualms cracking jokes about. The Doctor also does his fair share of brooding almost making you think Eccleston is back. Near the end of the episode the Doctor goes to a very dark place, darker than we have ever seen him go before. You almost think he’ll cross that line. A line he’s crossed before that resulted in the extermination of his whole race. I did love the twist ending which I thought was brilliant. It made you feel kind of sad for their whole situation but it also kind of wants to make you laugh in a “WTF” kind of way. Good episode, though not the strongest this season. But at least it’s no Fear Her…
What about you guys? What do you think?

It wasn’t the best but in the end I was left feeling satisfied.
The Doctor dealing with daddy issues was great and revealing. I thought Jenny was a good character, and good at flummoxing the Doctor. I can’t wait to see her come back. I was also pleased to see Donna arriving at answers before the Doctor.
Martha was rather irrelevant this episode and it felt pretty pointless to bring her along for this one, that painful shot of her reacting to her Hath companions death was just excruciatingly bad. I don’t hate Martha but she just should have been left behind in this one.

So do time lord clones just not die insted of regenerating?

Yeah, I couldn’t tell if that was the same stuff the Doctor was breathing out at the end of The Christmas Invasion, the Source, or a combination of the two at the end. I guess all will be revealed at some point.
Heard from the commentary that it was Steven Moffat who suggested not to kill Jenny off completely. I love that man

Seriously? You didn’t see the ending coming?
I was thinking a better ending would have been if she did die. There was far too long between her getting shot and regenerating for my liking - either she should have done it straight away - as other Time Lords do - or not at all.
…and I really hope she doesn’t meet Captain Jack at some point…

I can now admit to having a mad crush on Georgia Moffet. HOW DARE YOU WANT HER TO DIE?!

General Cobb had been bothering me because I knew he looked familiar. In the Fear Factor section of the BBC’s official site they said the mom was having trouble tracking down his accent. That’s because he’s Irish. Turns out he’s Nigel Terry who played King Arthur in Excalibur! I knew I had seen him somewhere before…

I don’t think she regenerated because she kept her same face. Then again, they have hinted before that female Time Lords (Time Ladys I guess) can control their regenerations more than the males. I think it was her Time Lord power healing her. I think the Time Lords can heal better than humans. Like when the 7th Doctor was shot three times in the TV movie and wouldn’t have died if the human doctors hadn’t screwed him up. All will be made clear in the fullness of time I’m sure. I’m pretty confident at this point that the disapperance of the bees mentioned previously is going to end up having to do with the Rani.

I have to disagree with you here sir. I think if nothing else Martha now realizes how badly the doctor feels for how he affects his Companions’ lives.

Olly: HOW DARE YOU WANT HER TO DIE?!
Because it completely takes away the meaning of her death to the Doctor. What’s the point of her dying, and his reaction to it, if the plot point is thrown out?
Robert: I don’t think she regenerated because she kept her same face. Then again, they have hinted before that female Time Lords (Time Ladys I guess) can control their regenerations more than the males.
Actually, it’s only the Doctor - and sometimes the Master- who has difficulty in regenerating. He can’t control the process like other Time Lords can. The TV Movie hints at the fact it’s because he’s half human.
Personally, I think Romanadvoratrelundar only regenerated the once when she changed at the start of Destiny of the Daleks. Like the Doctor regrowing his hand, I always figured there was a period after the initial change where a fully Gallifreyan Time Lord can alter his or her appearance for a while.

Blonde? She’s a platinum blonde? WTF?
Where did the genetics come from for that?
Re Martha, what I liked was the Donna and Martha back and forth about traveling with the Doctor and the collateral damage that can come with it and such.
But really, how is this “Doctor’s daughter” blonde?
11 Robert Koch // May 12, 2008 at 7:05 am
Well the Doctor has been blonde.

And I don’t think the Doctor is half human. There has been no mention of it outside the TV movie. It was probably a quirk of his recent regeneration or maybe something to do with the human-making fob watches or something.

I enjoyed the ending. It leaves the opening for later episodes/a special when the Doctor finds her again and can go “You’re ALIVE?”
I agree that Martha didnt really need to be there, but it made the episode better by having the Hath’s base/another point of veiw without haveing to take Donna away from the doctor.
And yes, lets all hope she never meets Jack.

Oh come on, why wouldn’t you want her to meet jack.
Hell, if she CAN regenerate hes the one guy with a lifespan long enough to live with her.

This episode was okay, nothing amazing but it was solid. I liked Jenny and i have to admit she is amazingly hot. finally some eye candy other then martha.
The ending i liked because it left the possibility later for one of the Doctors “what?…What?…WHAT?!?” moments that i enjoy.
I think it would be interesting to see her with Jack. They both know the doctor they both cant die. Their both interesting, exciting characters.
Donna got better this episode. She actually did something useful. I cant wait till shes gone though. I want to see Jack back with the doctor, their always interesting together.
