Classic DVD Onslaught

200px-fifth_doctor.jpgThe next several months will be like Christmas for American Dr. Who fans, as Amazon.com reports the release of several interesting DVDs and sets to American Audiences including:

Beneath The Surface- The Silurians, The Sea Devils and Warriors of the Deep (Featuring Third and Fifth Doctor Adventures, releasing June 3rd)
The Black Orchid (Fifth Doctor, August 5th)
The Time Meddler (First Doctor, also August 5th)

Here’s hoping we can get an American release of the Eighth Doctor TV movie sometime. I actually thought it was pretty good, and if you don’t blink you can see small appearances by MadTVs Will Sasso in the movie. Also good would be some more themed box sets to go with the already released The Beginning. How about villain sets featuring the Daleks, Cybermen, The Master or Sontarans? How about sets based around some of the more popular Companions? A Sarah Jane set? Or a Leela set? Even a Christmas themed box set would be interesting.

I’m glad to see that the BBC is releasing more Who here in America.I love the Hartnell stories they did so much with so little.( LOL) I suggest new Who fans watch some of the Hartnell Era. The Who companion team of Ian, Barbara and Susan ( the Doc’s granddaughter!) are hands down the best group of travelers the Doc has ever had.I also like Vicki and Steven. Sometimes I wish that Moffett would cast a 60 something actor to play the 11th Doctor! I would love to see an old Doctor back in action.
