The 2009 Specials and More…
We were forwarded an email (Thanks, James) about some rumors concerning the Doctor Who TV specials that air next year. I’ve already knew of one that I had read on Gallifrey One’s news page. Others, such as Paul McGann returning as the eighth Doctor, I either cannot find any info on or the information is about as reliable as Tim Roth being cast as the next Doctor. So as not to spoil anything for anyone who does not want anything spoiled (gee, that really sounds Tenish…), I’ll post what I’ve found after the cut.
Well as reported by the South Wales Argus (story found via Gallifrey One), they are currently filming the Christmas episode and it will feature the cybermen. You can take that as red as they have a picture of the cybermen on a graveyard set. An article posted on SciFi Pulse notes that there is going to be some massive cast changes on Torchwood and that the style of the show is going to be toned ( their word “dumbed”) down so it can take over Doctor Who’s time slot when the show is not airing. Also mentioned in the article is that Donna was planned to be a one season character and that things seem to get pretty nasty with her.
This all leads up to the following Christmas special which sees David Tennant regenerating into Robert Carlyle. Of course Carlyle’s name was being batted around before for the tenth Doctor, so we’ll see. Of course if he does get the gig I just wouldn’t be able to help but notice that both he and Christopher Eccleston were in “28 … Later” movies. Just one of those weird coincidences. Remember though, this is all just rumor (except for the cybermen part)…

Which… leads me to think that Rose may also be in the Christmas special.

Ive always wondered, Do you think it might be possible to maybe get tennant, post Doctor, to maybe take a role in Torchwood? I think he is an amazing actor and i hate to see him leave. but If he must regenerate so be it. I know martha jones was on torchwood for a couple episodes so maybe they can take tennant and give him a new role.

Get your money on David Morrisey being the 11th doctor. They were filming in Gloucester yesterday with him wearing similar clothing to David Tenant’s outfit. Also there is no Xmas Special for 2008 so this leads me to believe that a regeneration is on the way in episode 13 of season 4.

I have hurd that David will be Playing in all of the speshals they they are doing durring the Next year (2009) and there will be 5 spehsals. Apperntly He has Singed on for them from what I have hurd. But after those they have not spesified weather he will come back or not. for series 5

They are doing a xmas special this year, and david tennant WONT regeneate any time soon, if he regenerates in episode 13 then why are they doing 3 specials in 2009 so he can go and play macbeth or hamlet or watever. i also have heard some rumors of who will replace owen and Toshiko if any one is intrested. iv’e also heard that 2 of the 3 specials will be about Rose and how she finds the doctor.

Also i think DT will be in 2010 series because if he wasnt then why are they doing specials while DT is filming shakepeare.

I think it is time for Dave T to go. Don’t get me wrong he has been great but I’m ready for a new Doctor.Carlyle would be a perfect chioce.
I also think it’s time for some non-human companions. Earth girls are easy! LOL
