Paper Model TARDIS
Here was a fun time waster. Making a scale model of the TARDIS out of paper. This particular design was created by Matt of Iron Cow Productions. When fully assembled the model is just the right scale for Doctor Who action figures. And speaking of scaling, obviously you can make it smaller if you want. I have also made a half size version that I keep on my computer at work. It’s a bit of a conversation piece.

Now for mine I went up to Kinko’s so I could have a nice laser copy made. However, the file was just a little to large and some of the pieces got cut off. Fortunately, they were the base and the inside support which you are not going to see anyway. Sadly though, the light on the roof was also cut off, so my model currently does not have a light. For added strength I glued the pages with the design to posterboard. Matt recommends using 3M Adhesive Spray. I found some at Office Max for about $17.99 for a can. I really couldn’t justify that price so I figured I’d use gluesticks instead. The problem with this is that the glue is brittle, so the moment you start to bend and fold the pattern the paper detaches from the posterboard. But for the most part I was able to work around that problem. Admittedly cutting out all the pieces and slots is time consuming (and tedious) but the end product is worth the hard work.
